Hey everybody! Long time no chat with…. I have not posted anything since I was in Nashville. I must say it was quite the trip… So many exciting things to do, see, and industry professionals to learn from. I have to say, I was so exhausted by the third day, that is why you did not hear more about my trip. Rob Frazier spoke to us about songwriting and I really enjoyed everything he had to say. Made so much sense to me… especially that you should be creating “moments” in your songs. I may chat more about the trip when I have time…
When I returned from Nashville, it was the last week of school for our K-6 graders at the elementary school. As the admin assistant, there were many things to prepare for this. I hit the ground running for sure…no time to blog then.
After the kiddos and teachers were gone, I worked on all the preparations for the upcoming school year as well as closing out the current one. Lots to do and many hours to accomplish this.
Once I was out for the summer break, it was time to figure out which projects that I had put off for the summer break “when I would have more time” I would do. Whew…my advice to you, just do the tasks during the year and do not wait until you actually have time off….you never rest. My advice…do what you can and do not put it off until your break, schedule time to rest and just do NOTHING but recharge your batteries. Do not plan to write a song…if one comes to you, take the time to invest in that creative space, thankful you have the time to do it. Don’t get stuck in the “I Shoulds” of life. Do what you think is BEST at the time.
You are always going to have people, tasks, and emotions that demand your time. You are only ONE person and can only handle so much. Schedule your time before it schedules you. Make sure that you also schedule down time in your day to rejuvenate and recharge. You are no good to anyone or any cause if you are not rested.
Enough of my rambling….
More in a day or so…I’ll check my schedule…LOL
