Singer/Songwriter

How it all started
A special friend, a special God, a season of grace! Jerry Gray, my former worship leader, asked me one day why I wasn’t just writing my own songs instead of singing everyone else’s. I got to thinking… maybe that was something worth exploring! So, I prayed for some direction and asked God for help. WOW… did He show up for me. Once I started writing, the songs and melodies just kept on coming. I am humbled and blessed beyond measure by an amazing God who has equipped me in such a way to share His good news with those around me.
About me…
I was born the oldest of eight children in Phoenix, AZ. I studied classical piano for ten years and started playing the organ at age 18. Soon after, I was playing piano in church and also helping to lead worship. I have an amazing, supportive husband and two grown sons who are all such a blessing to me.
I have been writing songs since 2019, with several released to all the music platforms. I have many more to get recorded and released and look forward to having the time and resources to do that. Where God guides, he provides, right? All His timing….and His timing is perfect!
During the week, I spend most of my time at my job as the administrative assistant to the Finance Director of a large school district and practice once a week with the 80s band I just joined called The Street Light Curfew Band. On the weekends, you can find me either taking in the local music scene, playing music with the new band, playing at a local festival, or helping out at Adobe Mountain School as a volunteer when I can. On Sundays, I fill in with my church in the praise team when they need me.
When I have the time and the money, I am in the studio for recording sessions. God has blessed me with so many opportunities to share my talents with others. I have also collaborated with AZ Worship Songs to share original Christian songs; some are my orginal songs and some are other members’ original songs.
I have been blessed with so many musical opportunities over the past seven years. I have performed in an online Christian Showcase called Red’s Room as one of their featured artists for the night. I have been asked to share my music with Christian Spotlight Media Network as well as Praying the Rosary Catholic Radio. I have also been to The Objective in Nashville with a group called The Extreme Tour to grow as a Christian Singer Songwriter.
I believe God has blessed me with so many seasons of music. You can see some of the opportunities from the paragraph above. So many diverse opportunities, including being a part of such a robust and vibrant open mic music scene in Phoenix. The people and connections I have made just in the open mic world have really helped me grow as a person as well as an artist.
My music…
My music is very diverse. I have some songs that are very reflective and slow but also some that are upbeat and edgy with a bit of classic rock feel. I have written songs about specific people who God has put in my life and some songs about personal life experiences. Some songs have come out of a great sermon or a wonderful devotion while others have just come out of my Bible reading. All are based on God’s truths, promises, and real life feelings that we all experience as broken people. God meets us where we are and I think we need to give ourselves the same grace He gives us each day.
The Street Light Curfew Band is my latest musical endeavor. I have always wanted to be a part of a band but not just any band. I knew the right one would come along at just the right time. I believe all of the musical experiences up to this point have brought me to this place. When I first listened to this band play, I knew I wanted to be a part of it. The guys all looked like they were having a blast and the songs were all songs that I knew. I really love the 80s and I knew I needed to convince them that I should be one of the members. I started to be a fan, just following them, and after awhile, was asked to join. I am sure it did not hurt my chances that when I sang at my solo gigs, they were there to listen and, of course, I sang the 80s.
God is so good and He gives us just what we need when we need it. I am still writing songs, some that are Christian and some that are not. I am so thankful everyday that He is with me every step of the way on this journey called life. Couldn’t do any of it without Him!
